Presentation of the stamps "EUROPA - Underwater Fauna and Flora”
On 14 May 2024, the
Musée national d'histoire naturelle - 'natur musée' organised a presentation ceremony for the EUROPA 2024 - Underwater fauna and flora stamps. Two souvenir frames were presented by Mr Mario Treinen, Director of POST Courrier, and Mr Claude Balthasar, Head of Patrimoine & POST Philately, to Mr Patrick Michaely, Director of the
'natur musée', and Mr Jean-Marie Poissenot, the artist who created the two stamps of the special series.
This was also an opportunity for Mr Ben Thuy, palaeontologist at the
'natur musée', to talk about the remarkable excavation of an ichthyosaur fossil in the early 2020s at the Cloche d'Or, rue Émile Bian. The fossil was prepared and exhibited at the museum.
The stamps depicting an
ichthyosaur and a
plesiosaur and the
first day cover (FDC) are available at the philatelic counter (13, rue Robert Stumper, L-2557 Luxembourg) and on the e-shop.
