A unique collaboration between postal companies from Luxembourg, Austria, and the Netherlands
In October 2023, POST Luxembourg will issue for the first time a crypto-stamp, a new generation of stamps connected to blockchain technology. This NFT stamp is the result of a unique collaboration between POST Luxembourg, PostNL, and Österreichische Post. In autumn 2023, the new cryptographic stamp will be launched simultaneously in Luxembourg, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Through this collaboration, POST Luxembourg joins Österreichische Post and PostNL, which had already issued a joint crypto-stamp in September 2022. Indeed, the Austrian postal company is at the forefront of crypto-stamps. As the first postal company, it issued NFT stamps in 2019.
Pierre Zimmer, Deputy CEO of POST Luxembourg, stated, "More than 170 years after the issuance of the first stamps in the Grand Duchy, this year we will introduce an innovative new way of collecting and trading stamps using blockchain technology. Through collaboration with PostNL and Österreichische Post, we strive to build a global community of stamp collectors while making collecting and trading more accessible, convenient, and secure."
"Our first crypto-stamp proved extremely popular among traditional collectors and NFT enthusiasts," says Bob van Ierland, Director of Mail Netherlands at PostNL. "All variants of the issuance of the first Dutch crypto-stamp are now sold out. By cooperating with the Austrian and Luxembourg postal companies, we hope to generate even more interest in this new type of stamp."
Georg Pölzl, CEO of Österreichische Post, said, "Our expertise in crypto and blockchain technology is in demand worldwide. We will issue the next joint stamp in autumn, with the postal companies of Luxembourg and the Netherlands, under license. The next crypto-stamp issuance will thus be based on the unifying motifs of our three countries."
