Description
The Luxembourgish architect and artist Sosthène Weis was born on 29 January 1872 in Mertzig. Many people will know Sosthène Weis as a painter of countless excellent atmospheric watercolours. While painting was his passion, his day job as an architect made him a great creator for Luxembourg’s architectural heritage. Conversely, his architecture studies no doubt influenced his painting style and subjects. As State architect in Luxembourg he designed, among others, the Hôtel des Postes in Luxembourg-City and the orangery in Mondorf Thermal Park. Sosthène Weis died on 28 July 1941 in Luxembourg-City.
