The head of POST Philately, Emile Espen, has been given the great honour of a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II during the inauguration of Cartor's (international stamp producer) new stamp printing factory near Birmingham. The Queen, being a great lover of stamps, insisted on inaugurating this new cutting edge printing factory herself. During her visit, Her Majesty showed particular interest in the new Luxembourg Christmas stamps printed in accordance with an original procedure at Cartor. The theme of the stamps was a wish for peace and harmony during the end of year festive season.

Most Beautiful Stamp 2013 competition: “Mushrooms of Luxembourg" stamp book

Among the 29 stamps issued in 2013, the competition's 3,631 participants have chosen the "Mushrooms of Luxembourg" self-adhesive stamp as the most beautiful stamp of 2013. It was designed by François Besch with the help of the HIPSTAMATIC application, using the iPhone's integrated camera to take photographs, to which various filters were applied. The second and third prizes were awarded to the "Tiger" stamp by Timo Wuerz (D) and the two-stamp E European Value series "Moselle Valley" by Serge Weis (L).

Introduction of the Special Christmas Postmark at the PostMusée and at the Stamp Counter on the 17/12/2014

The "Christmas 2014" special postmark was used more than 7,000 times over the course of the day at the PostMusée and at the stamp counter on mail sent by stamp and special postmark collectors. The charming artist Linda Bos, creator of the two special Christmas stamps, was present at the PostMusée and added her autograph and little drawings to the letters and postcards handed to her by the collectors.

The President of the Postal Workers' Union, Eugène Kirsch, presented the postal workers calendar 2015, distributed to all households in Luxembourg and created by Pit Weyer, at the Centre for Documentation and Research on Forced Enrolment (CDREF) in Hollerich. This presentation, boosted by the presence, amongst others, of numerous patriotic associations, also launched the philatelic exhibition containing the 29 stamps issued by POST Luxembourg in remembrance of the Second World War.

73rd Day of the Stamp at Esch/Alzette

POST Luxembourg and the Philatelic Society of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg organised the 73rd Day of the Stamp on 25 October 2014 at the Lycée Technique de Lallange in Esch/Alzette. This was an opportunity to present the 2015 issuance programme in which POST Philately highlights its modern outlook through the multimedia ranges and the design of the stamps. POST Luxembourg's managing director, Claude Strasser, was pleased to note that more and more artists are showing an interest in stamp creation and design.

Presentation of the "20th Anniversary of the Inclusion of Luxembourg City's Old Quarters and Fortifications on the List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Lydie Polfer, Luxembourg City's Mayor, unveiled the "UNESCO, World Heritage" souvenir sheet in the presence of the artist who created it, Ben Carter, and officials from the LCTO (Luxembourg City Tourist Office). She was pleased to report that this creative medium is an additional means of promoting tourism in the city. In fact, according to POST Luxembourg's managing director, Claude Strasser, Luxembourg City is one of the favourite themes of Luxembourg philately. More than 70 stamps have covered aspects relating to the capital.
